Body
We have to begin with our physical health. It’s the foundation from which every part of our quality of life flows. When something is off in the body, it has the power to overshadow everything else. That’s why tending to our physical well‑being must come first. There are three core pillars to focus on:
Sleep
For me, everything starts with how well I slept the night before—everything. If you’re not consistently getting 7–9 hours of restful sleep and waking up refreshed, something needs attention. The cause could be anything from hormone imbalances and poor sleep habits to lack of movement, dietary choices, or even an undiagnosed condition like sleep apnea.
Exercise
Experts are right: movement is a kind of magic. It’s the closest thing we have to a fountain of youth. If you want to live fully and show up as your best self, consistent exercise is essential. This doesn’t mean intense training sessions. As we age, our priorities shift from aesthetics to strength, mobility, and longevity. Our workouts should evolve too—toward yoga, Pilates, walking, and weight‑bearing exercises that keep us strong and flexible. Above all, movement needs to become a daily, non‑negotiable habit.
Food & Water
Right behind movement is what we choose to fuel ourselves with. Michael Pollan sums it up simply: “Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants.” It really doesn’t have to be more complicated than that. We’ve heard it all our lives: less alcohol, sugar, gluten, corn, soy, dairy, fried foods, and fast foods. More plants, lean proteins, and fiber. Also, drink enough water.
Until we address these three pillars—and any underlying health issues or chronic conditions—we limit our ability to grow, evolve, and become the best version of ourselves.
